By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Richard_Dobson]Richard Dobson

Think back to a time when you experienced emotional pain or unresolved anger while at school as a youngster. As you look back do you wonder if your parents should have home schooled you? There are many reasons parents home school their children. This article will discuss some of the reasons children are home schooled.

Parents who teach their children at home tend to fall into two main categories:

1. Those who prefer to home school their children.
2. Those who want an alternative to the existing school system.

Those who prefer to home school their children.

• Some parents prefer to home school their kids to provide their children with a
different style of education.
• Other parents after having been involved with their children's education at preschool find they have the confidence to continue with the educating of their children at home.
• Some parents' alternative values believe their child's learning and development would be better supported through home schooling.

Those who want an alternative to the existing school system.

Parents in this category will educate their children at home for a number of reasons.

• Children may have health issues or special needs.
• Bullying of their children , a serious problem in our schools, will drive some parents to home school their kids.
• There are children with different learning styles who parents feel would gain more from being taught at home.
• Parents with children possessing special talents or gifted abilities will see homeschooling as the better of two options.
• Unfortunately in our existing system of education some students have for one of more reasons not been able to fit in or conform to the way of life offered in a school setting. In many cases some of these students have been suspended or expelled from the school. The parents have seen no other option but to begin home schooling.

There is no one right way to educate your children. As pointed out in this article there are many reasons why parents home school their children. Home schooling is clearly an exciting alternative option in today's educational climate, something that many parents feel strongly and passionate about. My five children have all been home schooled, not by me but by my wife.

I am a qualified primary school teacher who teaches and have done so for many years in a state primary school which I absolutely love. I have never personally home schooled . So my friend I am not advocating that you home school your children or send them to a state school. Carefully consider and weigh up the pros and cons in your situation before you decide to home school or not. The fact that you are like so many other loving and caring parents ensures that you will make the right decision.

Academic Interview

The fundamentals of knowing what to 'expect' in an academic job interview:

Have you applied for an academic job? Is the interview date approaching? Do not know what questions will confront you? Academic Interviews can be nerve wrecking but with a little planning, they are smooth sailing.

The Universities have rules that regulate the kind of members included in selection panel's setup for academic interviews. It usually consists of three panelists, a senior member of the department, and a senior manager from the university plus a representative from the human resources.

Each of the panelists has a specific task, the senior manager from the university for instance maintains the standards of the university, and the human resources manager takes care to see that the selection is fair and without discrimination. The senior member of the department or a potential boss of the interviewee determines if the candidate is suitable for establishing a healthy working relationship. However, the prospective manager has the final say on decision making.

The academic interview usually starts with candidates making a presentation or giving a lecture. The thumb rule is, to know beforehand the level of understanding of the audience. The presentations have a time limit set, and the presenter has to ensure that it completes within the stipulated time, never allow the presentation to overrun the time limit.

The common questions asked are, why you wish to work for the university and the attraction that drives you to work for the department, a visit to the university website provides answers to these questions. If the candidate has applied for a position of a lecturer, demonstrate to the panelist the requisite experience you have.

Most of the academic jobs may require candidates to have experience in administration, and events or contribution made to bodies or membership of committees can be useful for the panelist in evaluating your commitment. The questions they will ask is on how you have resolve problems with the managerial skills that you claim to have, or the experience on managing a budget.

The candidates should never ask questions that relate to remuneration or working conditions, until an offer for the job materializes, instead the candidate should initiate discussion on research issues the university has undertaken.

Have you ever asked yourself why you need to throw coins to a wishing well after making your wish? Have you ever wondered how wishing wells started? Do you want to haveour very own wishing well at home? If you answered yes to all of these questions, then you have reached the right article.

Do you know that the story behind wishing wells can be traced all the way down to the ancient Norse gods? Nordic myths tell us of this Norse god named Ordin who go to a wishing well and as the gods who were protecting the well for wisdom and understanding. The gods tell him he has to give something valuable to him in return for what he is wishing for. They ask for his right eye. Ordin throws his right eye into the well and he receives wisdom. He understands how things ought to be and he became known as the god of wisdom.

Ancient people believe in the powers of the water in the wishing well. They drink from it. They bathe the water from it. They make wishes to it. They believe that the gods dwell in the water and they pray to the gods and appeasing them with sacrifices the most common of which is throwing coins. Coins were believed to be one of the most valuable things during those times and so it has become a standard practice to throw them after wishing to the gods.
